I used:
8 oz. barilla penne pasta, cooked according to directions
1 lb lean ground beef
1 jar Safeway Organic garlic and herb marinara sauce
1 tsp Italian seasonings
1/2 c shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 c shredded Parmesan cheese
8 oz ricotta cheese
Start by cooking the meat, in a medium sized pot, until brown. I also added in salt and pepper while cooking. Once cooked, drain the grease from the meat (I also run through cold water which is supposed to pull more of the grease out!). I then added the meat back to the pot, added in the marinara sauce and Italian seasonings. Alow to simmer while pasta is cooking.
Once the past is cooked to al dente, drain the water from the pasta. I used a 2 qt baking dish and layered 1/2 of the pasta on the bottom, then 1/2 of the ricotta, then 1/2 of the meat sauce. Repeat with remaining pasta, ricotta and meat sauce. Lastly, I mixed the mozzarella and Parmesan together and layered over the top. Put in the oven, heated at 350, for about ten minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
Serve this deliciousness with a side salad and some fresh baked garlic bread and let everyone enjoy!
