After doing a lot of research, I visited my local vitamin and supplement store and picked up protein powder to be used as meal replacement shakes. My plan is to use the protein shake for both breakfast and lunch, have two fruit or veggie snacks during the day and eat a healthy dinner. At first, it seems really drastic and I thought I would be hungry -- but the protein shakes taste delicious and keep me full for a long time! Here is the link for the protein powder that I'm using; I picked up both vanilla and chocolate. I figured the vanilla would be great with frozen fruit, and as I discovered this morning -- for an iced coffee protein shake! I haven't tried the chocolate yet, but the vanilla is delicious so I'm confident the chocolate will be as well.
With this particular supplement, I only use the protein powder and mix it with water and it's perfect. I suppose you could use a fat-free or dairy-free milk, but you would be adding some unnecessary calories to it, so I'm sticking with water.
