What has helped me is that I've removed most of the processed foods from my intake (notice I said most, not all, because I do have my occasional cheat days!). We're having lots of fresh/organic fruits and veggies, lean meats, more high-protein beans. I've heard people say that 'organic tastes better' and I always thought that was the dumbest thing I've heard. But it's so true! The fruits, veggies, even meat and eggs taste so much cleaner - do I dare say 'more pure'?! It is more expensive, but it's an investment in the food that you are serving to your family and I only want the best for us, so it's a great investment in my mind. We've also been buying more from the local farmer's markets, so we're getting locally grown food, and supporting the local economy. (I'm a huge proponent of buy American, buy local!)
I've also changed up my routine with some interval running, adding in some cycling and also cardio/strength mix classes at my local gym. Let me tell you the cardio/strength class kills me each time, but the next couple of days when I'm sore, I remind myself that it's the feeling of getting stronger, leaner, fitter and so worth it!
